For finding your way around the starry sky, there's no better tool than a star wheel, or "planisphere." Whether you're skywatching with just your eyes or with binoculars or a telescope, it's essential for learning constellations, identifying bright stars, and planning observing sessions. Our Star Target features a detailed star map drafted by celestial cartographer Wil Tirion. It shows all constellations visible from mid-northern latitudes (30° to 50°) and unlike other planispheres shows the locations of 100 showpiece star clusters, nebulas, and galaxies for viewing with binoculars or a telescope. All are clearly labeled and visible under a red flashlight (sold separately). You just dial in the date and time, and-voila!-Star Target displays a current map of the night sky. On the back are simple instructions for using Star Target, plus viewing tips and a calendar of annual meteor showers. A must for any stargazer, especially beginners.
