Starlight Xpress HX916 high resolution CCD camera.

The HX916 is a very high resolution cooled CCD camera, especially designed for astronomical
imaging. It is ideal for both planetary and deep-sky work. The HX916 uses a Sony ICX085
HyperHAD progressive scan CCD, with 1300 x 1030 pixels in a 8.71 x 6.9 mm active area.
HyperHAD devices have excellent quantum efficiency, peaking at around 48% in the green,
and an extremely low dark current, well below that of any comparable CCD currently available.

The HX916 is also the first high-performance astronomical camera to take advantage of a fast
USB computer connection. Unlike parallel port driven cameras, USB offers a download sped
increase of about 3x and a much lighter connecting cable. USB is also much less susceptible
to the variations of computer performance and set-up, which can be encountered with parallel
port systems.

You will also need a PC computer with Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, or Windows 2000
installed (NOT Windows 95 or NT4). This machine must have at least one USB port available
and at least 16 Megs of memory. If you intend to view the finished images on its screen, then
you will also need a graphics card capable of displaying an image with a minimum of 1024 x
768 pixels and 65,000 colours. A medium specification Pentium with between 200 and
900MHz processor speed is ideal.
