Starlight Xpress MX7-C

A unique new high-resolution, one-shot colour camera from Starlight Xpress.

The MX7-C is a brand-new introduction to the Starlight Xpress product line and offers both a
substantial increase in imaging area and resolution, combined with an exceptionally high QE
and STAR 2000 self-guiding capability.

The ICX249AK, as used in the MX7-C, is a new kind of Sony interline imager - the 'EXview'
CCD, which has the greatest quantum efficiency yet offered in an interline device and which
significantly exceeds that of the Kodak 'Blue plus' process used for the KAF series of CCDs
throughout the visible and infrared spectrum. The fundamental QE is of the order of 70% from
650nM to 470nM, although modified by the colour filters needed for single-shot imaging, and
this compares well with the 40-50% of earlier devices. It is also much higher than the values
offered by CCDs with primary colour filters, such as the ICX084AK and ICX085AK, as used in
the LISAA cameras.

Centronics Interface). 25 pin 'D' style plug for LPT1, 2 or 3 via a 5 metre x 6mm diameter cable
Image Download Time - Typically 12 seconds with a 200MHz PII PC, when using the “Port
Accelerator” module
Power Requirements - 115VAC/240VAC at 12VA or 12VDC at 750mA max
Cooling System - Regulated constant current cooling supply built-in. Single Stage
thermoelectric cooler to give a CCD temperature of approximately -30ºC below ambient
Size - 50mm x 95mm black anodized aluminium barrel with M42 thread at the CCD window
and 15 way 'D' style input plug at rear.
