The images of the Orion Nebula above were taken by astrophotographer Nick Hart from the
centre of Newport, Wales, using a 135mm lens. The camera was piggy-backed onto a Siberia
150 telescope. The image on the right was taken without a light pollution filter (LPF), while the
image on the left was taken with the Orion SkyGlow filter. Exposure times were similar,
allowing for the slight loss of light caused by the filter.
Comparison of the photographs reveals the stunning improvement that can be obtained when a
LPF is used. The filter was coupled to the lens using a 48mm to 52mm stepping ring (£3.99).
